Can Smart Glasses Translate Conversations and Save the Transcript?
- by NeoKnox
A translated face-to-face conversation on smart glasses can end as a complete written record. On RayNeo iO, Real-Time Translation runs inside Live Captions: the other person's words appear translated on the lens, your words appear translated on your phone, and when the conversation ends, the original and translated text are saved side by side in Sessions, with each speaker labeled.
From there, the record keeps working. You can review it, generate a summary, share it, and come back to it through RayNeo AI after the conversation. The whole flow falls into three stages: a short setup before the conversation, a clear division of screens during it, and a set of tools afterward.
Translation lives inside Live Captions rather than in a separate app, so the setup is short.
Setting both languages correctly at this stage also shapes the record you keep, because the saved session pairs each original line with its translation in the languages you chose.
Face-to-face translation works because each person reads in their own language on a different screen.
| Who is speaking | Where the translation appears | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| The other person | On your glasses, in your field of view | You follow them while keeping eye contact |
| You | On your phone screen | The other person reads your words in their language |
| You, with the play button | Spoken aloud from your phone | The other person hears your words in their language |
The display itself stays out of the conversation: iO's invisible AI display runs at 97% active display transparency, and the camera-free frame means nothing is filming the person across from you. While the microphones are in use, a white light glows at the temple tip, so the people around you can see the session is running.

When the conversation ends, the complete transcript goes to Sessions. A translated session keeps both versions together: original and translated text sit side by side, displayed as conversation bubbles, with each speaker labeled.
That layout matters for anything you need to act on later. A number, a name, or a date can be read in the language it was spoken and in the language you understand, in the order the conversation happened, with no guessing about who said it.
The saved record also mirrors what happened on both screens. Lines the other person spoke, which you read on the lens, appear in their bubbles with the translation beside them. Lines you spoke, which they read on your phone, appear in yours. Nothing has to be pieced together from memory or from two separate apps.
It also makes the record useful to people who were not there. A colleague who speaks only one of the two languages can follow the whole exchange from the translated side, while anyone fluent in both can read the original wording next to it.
Saved Live Captions sessions are more than an archive. A translated conversation can be put to work in several ways:
Meetings recorded with Voice Memo land in Sessions as well, each with its own transcript and AI summary, right next to your translated conversations. Language coverage and translation speed are covered in our guide to RayNeo translation glasses.

The saved session is most useful when it is handled while the conversation is still fresh.
Is a conversation saved even when translation is switched off?
Can the translation of my words be played out loud for the other person?
Where are my transcripts kept, and how is my data handled?
Translation, captions, and a complete record of the conversation all come with RayNeo iO.
